Chapter 01
A leaning run almost always starts at one post, not the panels
When someone calls us about a fence that looks like it is falling over, the panels themselves are usually fine. What has actually happened is one post has gone, either rotted at the base, worked loose from the ground over a few freeze and thaw cycles, or sheared off after a storm, and the panels on either side of it are being pulled out of line because they still have to hang from something. Replace that one post and the run straightens back out.
Storm damage and falling limbs are the other big call we get across Limestone County and the surrounding area, and they rarely stay contained to one panel. A downed limb across a wood or vinyl run tends to crack a rail as well as a panel face, so what looks like cosmetic damage from the driveway is often a structural repair once you get up close.

How to tell a post has gone versus a rail
A failed post moves when you push on it near the ground, the whole section rocks. A failed rail moves in the middle of the span but the posts on either side stay solid. That distinction matters because a post repair means digging out and resetting in concrete, the same standard we use on every new install, while a rail repair is a faster fix that does not touch the ground at all.
Sloped ground adds its own wrinkle. A fence built to follow grade needs each panel stepped to the terrain rather than forced level, and a repair on sloped ground has to match that same step or the new section will look wrong and shed water differently than the rest of the run.
Chapter 03
T.J. and the fence that did not need replacing
