Gate Automation

Gate openers, access control and electric gate repair for driveway gates across Athens and North Alabama.

Chapter 01

An opener only lasts as long as the gate it is bolted to

Most of the automation calls we get in Athens are not actually opener problems, they are gate problems wearing an opener's symptoms. A driveway gate that has started to sag on its hinges puts sideways load on the arm every single cycle, and an opener built to swing a square, plumb gate will fight that load until something inside it gives up. By the time a homeowner notices the opener straining or reversing halfway through the swing, the gate has usually been dragging for a while.

The other pattern is buried infrastructure. A driveway entry needs power and conduit run out to the post, and if that run was done cheap or shallow, North Alabama's freeze and thaw cycles and the odd flooded ditch will find the weak point in it. An opener that worked fine last fall and won't wake up this spring is very often a wiring problem at the post, not a failed circuit board.

How we handle it

We do not sell an opener onto a gate that is not ready for one. If the gate itself is out of square or the posts are not set the way we set them, that gets corrected first, in concrete, the same as every other post we install, because an opener bolted to a shifting post is a repeat call waiting to happen.

Access control is fitted to how the property actually gets used. Our gate access control includes keypads, card readers, remote controls, smartphone-enabled technology, or any combination of them, whether that is a keypad at the end of the drive or an entry a homeowner can buzz open from inside the house. Every automated gate we install or service gets safety reversing and obstruction sensing set up and tested, so the gate stops and backs off instead of pushing through if something is in its path.

Chapter 03

What tends to fail later, and the warranty behind it

Surges after a North Alabama storm are the most common reason a previously reliable opener goes dead overnight. If your gate suddenly will not respond to the remote or the keypad right after bad weather, that is worth a call before anyone assumes the whole unit needs replacing. Board and sensor damage from a surge is a common, fixable repair, not always a full teardown.

Every install and repair carries our one year workmanship warranty, and we answer calls and emails within 48 hours. If a gate is dragging, an opener is straining, or access control stopped responding, call (256) 203-1243 and we will get someone out to look at it.
